Silver to Jo in the European Championships marathon
|
The Nordskar took the silver medal in the U23-class in this year's European Championships in the marathon in Estonia.
'This was one of the most significant moments on my mountain bike, with room for 2.trinnet the podium at the European Championships in day' says Jo from Estonia. It was not spared some of the champagne as it was to splash from the podium during the prize giving ceremony. Neither one was spared in the effort during the race. There was no opportunity. It went very fast, right from the start in Otepaää, where the 89 km long, flat track was going at. 10 today. Many Estonian riders ran completely wild from the start. The first 10km went on asphalt and already here came off a break of two Estonian riders. They held all the way! Despite the hard drive from behind in the first field, at ca. 30 men. Here was Jo, along with fellow Lets Ragnar Manengen. Many tried to run and stick from, but it went so fast all the time that it remained together all the way to goal. There were lots of demand, and the first 5 places were captured by the Estonians. Ruling, that last year's European champion, Alban Lakata, Andreas Kugler (Birken won this year), Hannes Genz (no.2 in Birkenhead this year), Thomas Dietch and more pre favorites were placed from 7 space and back on the result list. Lars Ragnar Manengen was 16.mann and Jo was 23.mann in the strong field that more or less gathered for the run.
'This was pure road race' - report Jo. 'Despite the short distance, to a European Championship to be, this was tough. I got no sleep anywhere and had to get what I was man enough for 2 hours and 37 minutes approx. When I say that the average pace of this marathon race in mountain biking in the end proved to be 34.7 km / h, they realize that most of how it was today! "
In the women's class won the Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå. Congratulations. Linda Larsen rode very well and was well ahead on the way and finished 10th.
Congratulations Norway with knallbra stake in this year's Marathon Championship :-)
