Two members of Giant’s Global Mountain Bike Team will compete in the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Canberra, Australia, September 1-6. Adam Craig, the current US National Champion in Short Track, was named by USA Cycling to compete in the Elite Men’s Cross Country race on Sept. 5. Veteran Australian downhill racer Jared Rando was selected by his country to do battle in the Elite Men’s Downhill competition on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Joining Craig representing the US is Giant MTB pro Carl Decker, who is a Super D specialist in the United States.

Both Adam and Carl will have their 2010 Giant Anthem X Advanced SL bikes at the ready for competition. Built from Giant’s top-grade Advanced SL composite, the Anthem X Advanced SL frame features a massive downtube and bottom bracket area for maximum pedaling efficiency. It also boasts an oversize tapered headtube for steering precision and 4 inches of award-winning Maestro suspension. Craig, a six-time US Super D Champion and twice the US National XC title holder, credits Giant’s industry-leading suspension with much of his success. “I’ve been able to ride faster than lots of people in the last few years thanks to Maestro,” he said. “And it just keeps getting better.”

Jared Rando hails from Canberra, and is quite familiar with the DH track at Stromlo Mountain Park on which he’ll race. “It looks like it’ll be a fast start into the rock garden, which is looking pretty good and rough,” Jared said while inspecting Stromlo. He will most likely compete on his Giant 2010 Glory, featuring 8 inches of fully-active Maestro suspension mated to a lightweight and rugged ALUXX SL aluminum frame. “Anybody who’s brought a short travel bike,” Jared warned after walking Stromlo Park, “is going to be in a bit of trouble.”
