GIANT MTB TEAM END-OF-SEASON RESULTS;
KELLI EMMETT INJURES HAND
The Giant Pro MTB Team has completed the U.S. ProXCT season of racing with some great finishes. In both the US ProXCT #5 at Mount Snow, West Dover, VT (Aug 6-9) and US ProXCT #6 at Windham Mountain, Windham, NY (Aug 14-16), Carl Decker won the Elite Men’s Super D events. With these wins, “The Deckerator” wraps up the Super D season with a 4 for 4 record on the Pro Tour and, once more, Carl dominates all US riders in Super D Series!
Adam Craig, the US National Short Track Champion, placed 4th in that event at Windham Mountain and 3rd at Mount Snow.
Both Adam and Carl have been selected by USA Cycling to represent the United States at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Canberra, Australia, September 1 -6.
Their team mate, Jared Rando, also will ride in the World Championships. Jared is from Canberra, and will race on the Australia national team.
Not joining her team mates in the last couple of races this season is Kelli Emmett. Shortly before Mount Snow, Kelli was racing an event in Vermont and crashed. She got up from her mishap, and saw that some fingers on her left hand were at an odd angle. She “relocated” what she believed to be a simple dislocation and continued the race.
Next morning when she woke, she saw that her hand was in an ugly way.
“It looked really bad,” she said. “I kinda was like ‘I think I better go to the doctor and get this checked out.’” A couple of doctor visits confirmed there was more than a dislocation involved. She now has a cast on her hand, while doctors wait to see her broken finger will heal without surgery. If all goes well, Kelli will begin her cyclo-cross season in two weeks.
