RANDO TAKES 2ND IN GIANT SLALOM AT CRANKWORX
|
Jared Rando, Giant’s Global MTB Team gravity expert, earned a trip to the podium with a 2nd place in an exciting finish to the Giant Slalom at Crankworx Whistler.
The track was perfect for the Aussie and his Trance X, with its 5 inches of fully-active Maestro suspension and perfectly balanced ALUXX SL aluminum frame. The Giant Slalom, presented by Giant Bicycles, sported a brand new course for 2009, taking the world’s best competitors on a winding tour though slopestyle features that were longer than standard slalom course, with tighter corners, airs and berms. The time-trial format event allowed racers two runs, combining their times. Riders only advanced by continually beating the competition.
Rando first defeated Mikey Haderer (USA), then Cody Warren (USA), and then Michal Marosi (CZ) to make it to the finals. He was edged out in the final heat by Brian Lopes (USA), who claimed 1st place. Finishing behind Jared in 3rd place was Johannes Fischbach (Germany).
Jared also raced the Air Downhill event on his 2010 Giant Glory and finished 4th in a field of 52 competitors.
Other Giant athletes appearing at 2009 Crankworx were freeride phenomenon Kurt Sorge and mountain trials legend Jeff Lenosky.
