JENKINS CLAIMS BRONZE IN HYDE PARK

Giant’s TCR Advanced SL added another podium to it's list this weekend as World Champion Helen Jenkins claimed Bronze at Hyde Park

In a close finish Giant Triathlete and current World Champion Helen Jenkins was narrowly beaten as the ITU World Championships Series visited London. Jenkins made full use of her Giant TCR Advanced SL’s incredibly stiff and lightweight frame to stay firmly within the lead pack on the bike.

Forming the lead group on the run Jenkins took the lead and forced a break to reduce the lead group to three athletes comprising Helen Jenkins, Nicola Spirig and Lisa Norden.

With just 200 metres to go Spirig and Norden overtook with Spirig winning in 1 hour 54 minutes and 24 seconds, just two seconds ahead of Norden who was just three seconds ahead of Jenkins.

“I am so pleased, especially in front of a home crowd,” said Jenkins. “To get on the podium is brilliant! I was a bit worried about my sprint, and then I saw Liz May drop off the pace, and I thought ‘I have to keep this up and just try and hang on to Lisa [Norden] and Nicola [Spirig]’, but they’re such good finishers and they’ve been up there all year, so I’m just pleased to be so close to them.”

Jenkins’ Bronze in London takes her to 5th in the ITU World Championships Series which is currently led by Australian Emma Moffatt.
