RABOBANK AND GIANT HONOUR GIRO’s 100TH ANNIVERSARY

Denis Menchov’s special Giant TCR Advanced SL bike being auctioned for charity

The Rabobank Cycling Team, in conjunction with partners Giant, Agu and Giro, honoured the 100th anniversary of the Giro d’Italia in Milan on Sunday, May 17, with custom-colored bikes, racing kit and helmets.

Rabobank adorned its traditional colors of orange, white and blue with the Italian Tricolore. The team’s Giant TCR Advanced SL bicycles were modified with graphics displaying the colors of the Italian flag on the framesets and handlebars. In addition, Agu designed special jerseys with the Italian colors on the sleeves and collar. And the team’s helmet sponsor, Giro, created custom-colored helmets.

The team displayed the special bikes and kit during Stage 9 in Milan, the city where the Giro began 100 years ago.

Now fans can bid on the Giant TCR Advanced SL bike ridden by team leader and Stage 5 winner Denis Menchov. Fans can access the auction on eBay in The Netherlands, where they can also bid on the team jerseys and helmets. An additional 100 jerseys can be purchased through Right To Play, at www.righttoplay.nl.

All assets from the auctions will go to Right To Play, an international humanitarian organization that promotes sport to improve health, develop life skills and foster peace for children and communities in disadvantaged areas of the world.
