AMIEL CAVALIER – LIFE IS ALL DOWNHILL

(December 6, 2007) Giant MTB Team Gravity rider Amiel Cavalier is home in Australia, where the racing season is just underway. At the tender age of 20, Amiel is one of the veteran pros in Gravity events. He’s having a great season thus far, and he sat down for an interview and contributed his body and his Giant bicycle to a sensational video you can see http://youtube.com/watch?v=bYCwC1ohOXA. After we watched this terrific video, we asked Amiel a few questions about his participation in the filming, and how his Aussie racing is progressing.

Q. How's the racing season going for you Down Under?
A. The season has been going well; I have had a 2nd and a 4th and I am in the lead with two rounds to go. I am enjoying being home and pretty eager to get back in to training after a bit of a rest.

Q. Can you explain the Australian race series?
A. The Aussie season goes from the start in November and ends in mid-February; there are 4 rounds and a national championship. Not much different to the US scene. It’s getting to be a big scene and the races are getting bigger and bigger and there are some young, fast shredders coming through.

Q. You crashed hard in a race at Crankworx at Whistler earlier this year. (see the crash at http://youtube.com/watch?v=xmEAeYcoPMk&feature=related) Any residual problems from that?
A. I was very lucky I wasn’t seriously hurt and I am back to 100%

Q. In this great new video where you are wearing the helmet cam, how fast would you guess you are going?
A. It would be a guess to say about 25 to 30 miles per hour....

Q. When YOU watch that video of yourself, does anything surprise you?
A. Funny you ask – I’m not really surprised, just excited to see myself riding for an extended period of time. It’s cool to check out your "style.”

Q. How about your hair cut in the interview portion of the video? Are you sporting a “Road Warrior” style now, or is that just the result of “helmet hair?”
A. HAHAHA! That’s just how I got out of bed that morning... No new styles.

Q. Anything going on in your personal life you'd care to share?
A. Nothing exciting besides having fun riding. It’s good to be home with the family and friends.
